Holy Trinity Church parishioner Harry Miles (Mihlos) leased the Peery Hotel in 1925 when it was near the city’s thriving Greek Town. He bought it in 1947 and changed its name to the Miles Hotel. Built in 1910 by David Harold Peery, rooms then cost $1.50/night/single (detached bath) and $3.50/ night for two with a private bath. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The first choir at Holy Trinity Church was formed in 1935. Its director was C. Milonopoulos, center/left, who also was cantor. Parish president John Kotsovos is on the far left/front row.

As unskilled workers, Greek immigrants often found jobs in restaurants. These Wilson Hotel employees worked 7 days a week, ten hours a day, and made $1/day and meals.

Ninety-five children attended Salt Lake City’s Greek School in 1933 where Catherine Demiris and Fr. Artemios Stamatiadis were teachers.
